At least I hope so. Had to put my beloved dog Brandy down yesterday. After 15+ years it was time. The wife and I got her from the pound together, she was the only dog not barking or going crazy as we walked by the kennels. She just sat there wagging he tail. She has been the best dog anybody could ask for.

She was always by my side, ALWAYS. I couldn't get up from my chair and go down the hall without her trotting beside me wherever I went.

After my son was born, almost 10 years ago, she was his best friend. She would let him tug her ears, roll all over her and she would never growl or bark in anger at him. She knew she was his protector.

After 10 years of my boy, she has grey hairs just like me grin

She will be greatly missed. My boy has already been asking if we are going to get another puppy. It will be a while I think as he already has a Schnauzer and the MIL has her dog.

So sorry for your loss!

She was a lovely girl, and she is waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.

Reminds me of our dog Goldie, we got her when the kids were wee babes, my son would pull her ears and even her tongue... she just loved it up. She's been gone 20 years now and I still miss her.

Brandy was a good dog Joe...

I share your sorrow. We were given dogs as loyal companions.

That flat sucks..... 'cept the part where you got to enjoy her for over 15 years.

Condolences.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

I miss all of mine I've lost, and sincerely hope they are waiting in heaven...

Tough read, so sorry for what you're feeling right now. As special as our pets are, I believe that God breathed life into all his creation, and each WILL be in heaven. God loves the life that He created.

Dang, sure sorry to hear this, they leave a big hole in your heart.

Rainbow Bridge
(Author unknown)
Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that
has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are
meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is
plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who
were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our
dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small
thing: they each miss someone very special, someone who was left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and
looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver.
Suddenly, he breaks from the group, flying over the green grass, faster and faster. You
have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in
joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your
hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into those trusting eyes, so
long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart. Then you cross the Rainbow
Bridge together...

Grieve not, nor speak of me with tears but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you..
I loved you so---'twas Heaven here with you."

Check out www.creaturesinheaven.com

Especially the book, "Will I See Fido in Heaven?"

The author is a friend of mine and during the last few weeks of my dogs life she came over routinely to check on our "baby" rottweiler and the wife and I. She brought her books, videos and sincere love and comfort. The author, Mary Buddemeyer-Porter is more than a dog loving nut who wrote a book. She has theological training from Missouri Baptist College and others.

The book must be good, as I've never had a loaned out copy returned and when I ask I usually get, "Oh, I loaned that to a friend".

P.S. Unlike many "animal lovers", Mary is not against hunting. smile

I know exactly what you are going through. So very sorry. I put Bebe down last week. She was my 13 year old black lab. Lots of tears being shed.

I asked a preacher once if he thought dogs were in heaven. He replied, "Jesus didn't die on the cross for a dog." Pissed me off. After thinking for a moment I said, "He didn't have to. Dogs are sinless. They have no free will and must operate as they were designed by God. Since it is sin that keeps you out of heaven and dogs are without sin why are they not there?" I pray they are for I've lost too many that I loved with all my heart as you loved Brandy. I understand and share your grief.
