I simply punched an 1/8" hole for a vent and use a golf tee to plug it when not pouring.

I have one of those little yellow cap that pops on/off with a lanyard for a vent and the cap dissappeared after the lanyard broke so I use a galvanized nail.

I don't have any desire to play golf so I ain't got no tees, but I never had no desire to pound no thumb neither, hence finding another purpose for the nail... Just sayin... blush

It wasn't the fault of Blitz, but rather several federal agencies coming up with overlapping and nonsensical requirements that results in this crappy and dangerous gas can design. Without a vent to relive the pressure these cans are ticking time bombs.

Just haul one out on a sunny day and let it sit in the sun for a few minutes while you get the mower out and ready for fueling. People make the mistake of inserting the gas can's nozzle into the mower's gas tank and tilting the gas can before pulling the "safety" handle to release the gas. The pressure built-up in the can squirts the gas out with enough force that it can spray back in the person's face. That's bad enough, but if there's an ignition source it's a real disaster.

This has happened all too often and Bitz USA has declared bankruptcy. This is what they say the reason is. "We have been operating under extremely litigious environment and have been working toward a solution for quite some time. The defense costs related to increased litigation associated with fuel containment products is the primary factor that leads to our current situation."

The guy in the YouTube video likely doesn't realizes he has made himself a target for litigation.

The dumbasses at Blitz could have designed a better compliant valve. The fk'n ch!nks could do better and that does not say a lot.

In a free country, they'd be able to sell gas cans that work right to start with.

Its a cool idea, but I'd be concerned about the ethanol in the gas eating away at the valve stem.

I doubt the rubber in that valve stem is designed to be resistant to ethanol like the rubber in your fuel system.

If you want to get really fancy, drill a hole, epoxy a 1/4" nut over the hole, and use a thumbscrew for a plug.

How did they manage to squeeze a 1 min video into 7 min? What a sleeper!!!
