Guys, I have favor to ask. Today my father (87) went into hospice care. At the same time a very close dear friend is in hospice care at home with his family who I visited today after seeing that my father got home and comfortable. Needless to say its been a long day, but it is not about me. I am just hoping the lord takes them home peacefully and pain free as possible. My fathers name is Robert and my friends and is Gary. My father has hd both knees replaced , beat cancer twice and about a yr ago started dialysis which really took it out of him. My friend battled cancer for 5 years and is leaving behind two daughters anda a wonderful wife. Any prayers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to ll, goodshot!

I hope you don't mind a few thoughts about this time you have left with both of these important people. Within the past year, I was with my own father until his last days. It was a uniquely special time which I don't regret. In some ways, perhaps, it is kind of like birth, except your important presence is about a peaceful exit rather than an entry into this life. It's kind of hard to do what most of us don't have much practice doing. I have a few regrets about what wasn't done or said, but I did have more opportunities to do stuff with Dad near the end which I never had the opportunity to do when Mom passed away. I am really glad I had the opportunity to express my final thanks to Dad for the opportunity he pointed me toward in life. I know he was grateful for each of his sons who came to be with him, none from less than 2000 miles.
