Any of you guys have a S/W M&P Shield? If so, what are your thoughts, comments etc?

I have had my 9mm Shield for about 6 months now. I have tried a couple of flavors of Kahrs and KelTecs in search of a semi auto 9mm replacement for my J-frame as a backup gun/ light off duty gun. None of them were worth a damn.

The Shield, however, is perfect for me. Small enough for ankle carry, big enough to shoot well, and very reliable so far. I only have about 1000 rounds through it, but so far no problems. I do wish they would ditch the 8rd mag, and just ship two 7rds with the gun.

I don't own one but I have shot one that my friend owns. Very similar to a glock to me but thinner and should conceal nice. Accuracy was what you would expect from a compact and no function problems. With the short mag in you could feel the 40 recoil pretty good. A lot like the glock 27 but a little thinner and longer grip.

I would buy one if I could find one.... And not at some of the outrageous prices on gunbroker.

I've had one since they came out. They're the best CCW I've ever found, and I've tried a bunch. Love it.

I haven't seen a shield with night sights but they are easy enough to install with some minor care.

I have 2 M&P's, one with Ameriglo straight 8 style and one with the Bowie Tactical style.

If swapping sights I would put the Apex Tactical DCAEK trigger kit in it. Smoothest DA trigger I've ever seen on a semi auto

I like them but I cannot find them anywhere. I have been looking at Sig P290 version 2 and they come with night sights standard and for 20 bucks more you can get laser as well. Very Very nice carry pistol and very reasonable. If you are interested PM me and I will give you the info.

My Shield is a 9mm. It's shot everything I've tried through it (mostly Black Hills, but a few reloads) without a hitch.

I picked it up from Big R in Billings. Both locations have surprisingly good handgun sections.
Red Rock might be worth a shot, though they are often a bit spendy.

LGS got some 9mm Shields in the other day and sold them pretty fast. I'm wanting a 40 and they are on the way as they received the invoice from S&W. Hopefully in the next couple weeks!

I have one in .40 and really like it. Picked up a PJ IWB holster and it conceals nicely. Small enough to pack around and big enough to shoot.

I was going to get one, they were in stock when I visited one of the local stores but the Springfield Armory XDs is pretty much the same size and comes in .45 auto, so I went that route. If I wanted a 9mm I would look at the Shield or the much smaller and pocketable Kahr CM9. Some folks prefer the M&P 9mm Compact over the Shield.
