went out today to play with the G20. had three failures of the last round to feed with the slide locked open. the last round had slid foreward a little (under recoil i assume). gun is Gen 3 and using Gen 4 mags.
ammo is the Prvi 185 HP cheapo practice stuff (no failures to fire, but three split cases in the first ~200 rounds)
what's the fix???

It does that with every magazine you have?

Ammo would be the 1st suspect since it acts up with more than one magazine - assuming your supply of magazines have good spring tension.

Replace the guide rod spring and your mag springs?

yea the mags are all new. i can and will change the recoil spring assy if that is suspect. this pistol is still newish...less than 200 rounds
i don't know the finer points of the Glocks, but i don't really understand how the slide can lock open with a round still in the magazine, even if that round has moved foreward a little.
but i do agree that the ammo is likely the culprit (since it's inexpensive imported), but i'd like this gun to function with anything i feed it.

I wouldn't change any springs if the pistol is that new - I'm reasonably certain the ammo is causing the slide stop to engage prematurely.

yes, i have two 10 round and six 15 round Gen 3 mags. i will try them.
but i have ten or twelve of the Gen 4 magazines. my research led me to beleive that they should be fine in the Gen 3 gun.

sounds like the problem is the ammo , try another brand of ammo before you change out anything on the pistol, including the Magazines

what's the fix??? All Glocks are perfect. Does not compute. Must analyze error. Error. Error. Error. Provided data contains facts that are irreconcilable. Self-destruct sequence has been activated. Prepare for self-destruct in T minus five minutes.

On a more serious note, it sounds like an ammo problem.

Are the magazine followers inserted correctly? I must admit I have never had this happen but that is about all I can think of.

I have that happen every so often when I am running my folks through a range. Usually it is with folks who were around when we had Smith 10mm's. We were taught back then to shoot with a "high thumbs" grip. Seems like some guys who try that with the Glock, inadvertantly bump the slide stop lever and cause it to engage the slide. Not sure that is what is happening in your case, since you only report it happening on the last round out of the magazine. I'm interested in the split cases. That seems odd with factory fresh ammunition.

Thats odd..I could understand if it was doing it with 1 mag. Could be a weak spring in the mag. but 3 different mags. I'm not sure how the gun would know the difference.

What Kevin said............
Glocks can be more sensitive to how you hold them compared to others. I'd be more concerned with the split cases. I know you're kind of immune to recoil, but, do these Prvi's seem loaded kinda hot?

Ditto to what KG posted.
Might be ammo, might be grip.

Ammo, not your springs or pistol. Buy some good, quality ammo!
