My 85-year-old father who lives in Oklahoma informed me he was called by a couple of people who wanted him to complete a Nielsen TV Ratings Survey. He told both callers he wasn't interested in participating, and asked them not to send anything to him.

Lo and behold, a few days later a package arrived with the survey and a one-dollar bill for payment. He stuck the dollar bill in his pocket and pitched the rest of the paperwork in the trash.

Shortly after that someone called and asked if he received the survey. He told them what he had done, and said he would keep doing the same thing in the future. Oh, he did request they start sending five-dollar bills to make it worth his while.

For some reason he doesn't believe they will contact him anymore. Heck, with all the reality shows, they might offer him his own series. They could call it, "An Okie Takes their Money and Trashes their Ratings."

I got five bucks. I filled it out, probably disappointed them, the only things I watched all week was Jeopardy and the race.

The whole point of it is to determine who's watching what. If you don't watch anything, that also goes into the averages. They picked me one time. Almost every time slot was a blank and when they asked for comments at the end, I said that there was nothing on other than mindless drivel all week. I hate sit coms and cop shows and that's 95% of what's on.

What race?

What's a TV???? I maybe at risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome from reading Kindle books on my iPad though...
