I have Murray's 3rd edition. Nice quick research book, but lacks all serial nubers. Are there books out there offering different info than the 3rd edition?

Until these guys get around to writing the new book.....Murray's is the best we have.

I hope some guys do go ahead and put something into a book. You could have different guys writing articles and a single editor putting it together. CR Doug

Agree Agree Agree
I joined the Campfire for no other reason than the wealth of info the Savage Room offers. All other rooms are just a bonus.
I really enjoy Murray's book and didn't know if there were any more out there.
Thanks

Others... 1)Savage and Stevens Arms and History by Bill West 2)Savage & Stevens Arms Collector's History by Jay Kimmel 3)Reprints of early Savage catalogs on eBay
There are errors in all of them. The 1900, 1905 and 1924 catalogs are good info.

There is a downloadable copy of the 1900 catalog in the "Misc. Good Info" thread. Worth grabbing.

Baileys book on Savage pistols, also has a bunch of info in it on rifles also. As well as the best book on the market when it comes to the life and times of Arthur himself, Bailey rocked that part of the history of Savage.
