I have an older 77/22 with the blued bolt handle and iron sights. I mounted a Nikon 4x on it and it shoots great. For some reason, I'm just more interested in single shots. Especially falling block types.

What do you guys think? Just put it away or part with it? What would be a fair price?

Is it 22LR or Mag?

Whichever it is I say keep it. I let my 22 Mag go and have been kicking myself ever since. At least I have a 77/17 to help ease the sellers remorse.

An older one with the blued bolt handle? Keep it sir.

Unless you know for absolute certain sure that you'd never shoot it again, definitely keep it.

Oil it well, put it to bed and forget about it. In a year or two or three when your interests change again, instead of thinking, "Dang! I sure wish I had that nice 77/22 again", you can take it out of storage and enjoy it.

BT and DT too many times, now I just put them away.

I would keep it, but I would never sell mine. Value it about $400. with out scope

For the right buyer & if you're willing to wait you cold get $500.

But like others have said, keep it you'll regret it! I sold mine 'cause I needed $$ ... still regret it!

I think that I would keep it, not all of them shot well. I am the opposite, I have a falling block type, a BSA Martini Model 12. I have thought of selling it a time or two for something else that I just had to have at the time, but am really glad I have kept it. They are not exactly easy to find now in any decent condition.

Maybe I might go a different direction with it. Maybe change out the scope for a receiver sight and shoot it with those for a while. My Dad has a Williams rear sight and its a real tack driver.

They can actually work quite well, the BSA has micrometer peeps and in silhouette I have often shot better scores than those using the 77/22 with scopes.

I think a general rule of thumb is if you are having doubts, you better keep it. Of course, if you have to sell it to finance a Ruger #1 or something you know you are going to love, maybe it is a different story.

I have one of the older 77/22s too, by the way. I love it. I got it for a song, shot it some, and am going to start getting it ready for my little boy. It is going to be his first gun.

It is a pretty cool little rifle .

I wouldn't want to be in a good patch of ground skwirls without a repeater.......

I have one I bought about 25 years ago. I was able to go to the wholesaler and pick through about 50 of them and got one with one of the best pieces of wood I've ever seen on a Ruger! I haven't shot it in probably 10 years until I got a suppresor and then I got the barrel threaded and now it's a darn fun little gun to shoot.

I sold mine to help fund a Cooper JSR - no regrets.

If its an early one especially, I'd have a hard time parting with it myself.

Bought mmy 77/22 new in the mid 80's, a RS 22LR along with a new Burris Compact 2-7 scope for it. Can't even begin to count the hours of pure fun, great accuracy and perfect reliablility it's brought ever since. Or the 10's of thousands of rounds it's fired. Now I have a new GM 17HM2 flutted barrel for it too, and bought a new Leupold 4.5-14X40 Matte Wide Duplex RE VX-III that will go on it when I get around to getting higher rings for it. I've been a serious 17 rimnfire fan ever since the 17HMR and then 17HM2 each first came out, bought 3 of each and they retired most of my 22 rimfires. But adding about $600 more out of pocket on this one pretty much assures it won't be sold anytime soon.

That basically looks just like mine, just different scope. Its an accurate little rifle. I had a CZ 452 17HMR I wish I never got rid of, but I still like aspects of the ruger better. Especially the safety and the trigger guard.

I still have a CZ 452 17HM2 NIB w/accessories that has never been fired. Decided to go with the barrel upgrade for the 77/22 instead. I really like the CZ's, but love this Ruger and I don't need two 17HM2's. I had 3 17HMR's and 3 17HM2's, down to 1 and 2 now... will be 1 and 1 when I get around to selling this CZ.
