Could anyone explain to me how crossing at a corner could be considered trespassing?

It seems dumb. I think that blocks of public land in Ilinois are closed to hunting because this, even though they meet an open area at a corner.

But how big of an easement do you think they should take from corners? As wide as your body? As wide as your body carrying a deer. Wide enough for a pickup, for agricultural equipment, oil exploration and drilling rigs?

I guess you can't pass between those sharp corners without crossing over other sharp corners and once they ease that there's no place to stop.

Just try to toss that deer over, and try not to mess up the fence.

I have yet to see or here of a pilot arrested for trespassing as they fly over the same corner. What altitude over the corner must be achieved before I am clear to cross?

Montana politicians argued that just placing my hand across the fence is trespassing.

I would like to see a logical explanation of why I couldn't use a ladder to cross at a corner.

Why we coddle the big landowners in Montana and allow them to control access to public land and allow them to access the same land as if it was their own is immoral. The land belongs to the taxpayers and should be available for all to access.

I would make it a requirement that anyone who grazes or leases public land must allow access or no lease and no access. I would also make it a felony for anyone to access public land that is not accessible to the public.

In other words, if the public can't use it the neither can the adjoining landowners.

If you can jump from point A to point B, or use a step ladder as you say, then you can get there.

The corner crossing silliness would never hold up in court, since you can do it without setting foot on their land anyway.

But you break the plane of the dividing line.
Even if paper thin you cannot squeeze between the points that define a line.

Busted.

That's the way the system is. If they want you busted, you're busted.

Might as well create a distraction.
As you lawlessly cross the intersection exercising complete disregard for all that is good and pure and just and right, set fire the sumbitch.

Because they pay off the officials making the rules, then charge trespass fees to access the public lands. In Idaho the corner is a point and that point is to be set to .02' (1/4") according to state survey laws. I have not heard of people being jerks about it, but I'm sure it's comming as more and more 'out of stater's' buy up the private land.
