Finally some pics, limited specifications and available calibers are now on the Beretta website. Just thought I would share for those interested. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Don't you find it weird that the site says they are all the same weight, a 243 and 338?

That 85 action looks just like the T3 action. I wonder if its going to be a one size fits all action like the T3?

It doesn't appear to be one size fits all, although the action designations are a bit strange (what is a single, for instance? Or was this just a typo?) I thought it a little strange that the action is to be a controlled round feed but the largest case capacity offerings are the WSM's. No standard magnum offerings at all. The stock style appears to be like the old AV classic and the AIV safari with the straight comb stock and shadowline cheekpiece.

6.5 Swede with a 24 3/8" barrel. Be nice if that wasn't a misprint.

This rifle appears to be way overpriced to me. If I'm going to put that kind of money into an accurate hunting rifle, its not going to have a hammer forged barrel and it will have a few other niceties like a Jewell trigger and McMillan/Rimrock/Bell&Carlson class stock. Oh well, I guess the Sako/Beretta name will cause it to sell well.

Here is another tidbit of information that I pulled from another site:

"In a nutshell, the 85 is a modified/improved(CRF/PF)75. It first came out as an 80th anniversary model 75 375H&H in limited production years back. Now it is the 85th anniversary model and is called the 85 as a standard production model in certain calibers. It can also be had in a deluxe custom 75 model in 416Remington.

"I handled the SAko M85 at the SOT Show that was in the Beretta booth at the media range day. The factory guy confirmed that the M85 was using the 80th anniv. design used for their .375 H&H. The rifle I examined had a wider extractor that M75s I have seen.

The rifle appeared slimmer than the M75 in the action. The magazine has a tricky catch that takes two operations to open so it should not pop loose."
