Some good new and some bad news. They have started posting info about new mausers and the M750 auto. Bad news -if you want to order a catalog online they require you to sign up for their inhouse club - must give phone nbr and e-mail address or you don't get the catalog. I guess I'll get a catalog at my local dealer sometime. I get enough crap e-mails and calls already. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

Looks like they might have a couple of winners with that 798 and the 7 CDL.
Not sure how real Mauser afficionados think of the 2 position safety, but the rifle looks good and they've chambered it in about the best combination of calibers they could have - .243, .308, .270, .30-06, 7mm RM, .300 WM and especially the .375 H&H and .458 Win. Mag. Although why they put a 26" barrel on a .375 or .458...?
That .375 is going to make some guys happy since they can use it as is or easily rebarrel to a .416 RM or .458 Lott. Not sure how that quoted 7 pound weight is going to go over, however - ouch! Speaking of, with the chosen calibers one now has the bolt face and magazine box combination to make whatever their little looney heart desires - .338 WM, .280, .338-06 or .35 Whelen, 7mm-08 and so forth.
I'd call it a good step in the right direction.
That Model 7 CDL looks really nice too. They're still keeping the SAUM's alive as well as the WSM's. And now we get to see if all the guys clamoring for a short thumper will actually go out and buy one now - the .350 RM with open sights and a 22" barrel is a bear/moose/what have you whomper for sure.
Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery. Hit the target, all else is twaddle!

I like the two-position safety. I wonder which Mauser 98 this is? I know is says square bridge long action. I hope it is made form modern steel and has the full inner receiver ring, like my CZ-500 Safari. I wonder if they are making it or just importing it?
This is actually quite interesting. Assuming this is a good M-98 action and Rem can keep it's prices at typical Rem levels, might this be the final nail in the coffin of Winchester?
I wonder if the 798 will outsell the 700? If it shoots as well, which it should, what reason is there left to buy a 700 for a hunting rifle unless it is substantially less expensive?
Maybe I should get one and see if it is any good............

Looks like they are importing the Zastavia from Serbia, which is what Charles Daly had until this year. Does anyone know if these actions have the full inner receiver ring, or do the have the "H" ring like the Interarms?

Best I can tell is these rifles are what used to be the Interams Mk X, which then became the Charles Daly, and now Remington. I wonder if Rem is importing barreled actions, actions only, or making them under license? It is disappointing to me that this is most likely just the Interams Mk X with the dual extractor cut-outs, which provide a convienent path for gas to get in your face if a case ruptures in the wrong place. Whatever you are willing to put up with, is exactly what you will have.
When your ship comes in. ... make sure you are willing to unload it.
PAYPAL, sucks and I will never use them again. I recommend you do the same.

The reimngton website is actually pretty good and so is the Remingtonclub. I joined and very rarely get anything form them.
