A neighbor recently purchased a well used M1A1 and ask me, about who can you trust to do a great job re barreling a M1A1 . where can you get parts kits, etc.
now I just don,t know who currently does that or what parts cost or what can be done by a home gunsmith, can you simply buy a barrel and do it yourself? any related info would be helpful, because I know several people with those rifles

You'd have to buy some tools, and a short chambered barrel and a reamer and gauges to DIY.

I'm not sure who is tops on it anymore.

I"m lucky to have a guy that does good work just down the road.

Roland Beaver in AR is a name that comes to mind from years ago.

Fulton Armory, as always, is a total ripoff for what you get vs what it costs.

Me... I'd call White Oak Precision and ask John. Not that he does, but I bet he'd know.

Sometimes retired Marine/Army armorers are around....

Damn the luck I missed Tony Kidd building Beretta 9mms years ago... that sucks, he had that down perfectly at the time... best trigger in the world for leg match pistols.

Another vote for Roland Beaver from Old Corps Weaponry. He did a M1 Garand for me awhile back. He does outstanding work, but be prepared for a long turn around time.

Go over to the M14 Forum and ask over there. They will know who are all the good M1A/M14 builders are and give you a idea on turn around time.
