Having light primer strikes maybe one in 40 rounds. The gun is clean and no oil on firing pin/spring. Help please.

Handloads? Spring kit? From day one?
I would disassemble the slide and give it a good, thorough cleaning. For sure leave the firing pin channel dry. Oil there can only cause problems. Light strikes can be caused by using hard, SMG primers, an obstructed firing pin, or too light of a firing pin spring. The function test for the slide involves depressing the firing pin block safety and shaking the slide. You should hear the dry, firing pin assembly moving freely.

I have cleaned it and will take a look at the primer next time it happens. I am shooting handloads. No modifications that I am aware of. I bought this from a friend here and he would have told me if he had any issues with it. Thanks, ken

Possible to have rifle primers? Has it had a reduced power spring installed? Is the pin moving freely? Safety clean?
I would not buy something that runs on any kind of primer given the possibility of primer shortages and even regulations. In fact, why not buy a flintlock? Really. Rocks aren't going away anytime soon.

The shake test mentioned should show if there is a burr or deformed striker hole. Check striker length and replace the striker spring if its had a significcant number of rounds through it. In my 9's, .40's and .45's the stook spring has always given solid striker hits on pistol primers- factory or reloads... A new spring and/or striker is a relatively inexpensive fix.
