Can someone tell me why Glock hasn't developed their own version of the Shield? I mean, they're obviously not averse to a single stack as they have the G36. Given the popularity of the shield and its "unicorn" status at gunshops everywhere, it seems that a slim, single-stack version of the 26 and 27 would sell like crazy...I'd buy two! I have no problem with the shield, and will own one when my number is called at my LGS, but I trust my life with my Glocks and I'd like to see them get on board. Is there something about the design that prevents this?

Good question. As regards single stack mags:

I came across a Beretta 92SB Compact M (singe stack magazine) years ago - and because of it's more comfortable 'fit',
I find I shoot it more accurately than my double stack mag. Berettas.

I've also long felt my Hi-Power would be even better with a single stack mag magazine and somewhat slimmer grip.

I'm sure that they'll get around to it if enough states pass a 10 (or fewer) mag law and they stop producing what they make already 24/7.

I would think that the big G would want to get in on the single stack craze also.

I have friends that work for Glock. Even they will tell you, the international group is missing out on a slice of the american market by not making a single stack compact nine and single stack full size .45.

May not be enough import points to get a single stack? Years back Glock made a 380 Glock that could not be imported here. Could be that there is not enough market for Glock to make one, Glock holds such a large percent of the LE market which most LEO's don't utilize a single stack. Maybe one day they will put one out?

The European mindset is to pursue military and LE sales, anything beyond that is just gravy. What theyre missing is the fact that the US is a whole lot of gravy.

But Glock does make the 36, and its a very nice pistol.

They are selling every gun they can make. They have legendary reliability. If. you are glock it has to be hard to depart from what works for them. A single stack 9mm would need a design unlike anything else they make. Another issue is how many military and le sales would buy it. I am just this if I owned the company. Also what if the gun isn't glock reliable they risk their reputation

I started out looking at the baby glocks for cc but they were too fat for my liking. bought the Kahr CW9 and have not looked back, .90" wide 7+1 9mm rounds. all the other mfg's are making these thin compacts, Glock is just missing out, M&P shields can not be found, XDS are more than I wanted to spend on pistol that I will rarely shoot. Kahr CW9 or the smaller CM9 can be had for around $400 and are made in USA.

Why should they?

Its not hard to conceal a 26 or 27 and these guns are easier to shoot than these new single stack guns. They also have an advantage on capacity and can be used with magazines from their full size brothers if needed.

You still can't (should not) pocket carry a shield or xds so what is the point?

I see no reason to carry a smaller gun than the 26/27 .

It'll change a lot:

1. Prices will go up,
2. Reliability will go down,
3. Liberals will rejoice
