Hey all. I know a lot of folks wet sand their McSwirlys to even them out a bit. Who here wants to give me the blow by blow for getting one right? I've done some auto body work years ago,and have done a fair amount of wet sanding on bondo and such. That isn't a $500.00 McMillan I waited 6 months for though, lol. I don't want to have a trial and error event on a nice McMillan. Thanks in advance,Otter6.

I'm not sure if this is what you are talking about, but I just have my buddy who is an auto body work man buff it out with polishing compound. It gives them a nice glossy shine without having to clear coat them to make them shiny ( mine are all prairie dog guns & they don't seem to notice ).

It is like polishing metal. I start with 320 and do not skip a grit and finish with 800. I use a buffer with polishing compound to finish. I personally don't care for it on mine, but have done a couple for friends.

I started with 800 and then worked up to 3000. You want to just sand out the scratches and not go any deeper than you have to because the weave is very close to the surface in some places. If you go too deep, you can fill over the weave with superglue and then it will sand out perfectly.

Little rubbing compound and wax will enhance a McSwirly.
