Hey guys I got a Smith that'll open my 700 S/A 308 bolt up and screw my 7mm SAUM takeoff on. Are the feed rails gonna give me majors balls to tune it? I already talked to another member and he says they will. Just wanted to see what others thought .
PS- I also am able to feed it VIA AICS mags as I have a stock and atlas DBM sitting on the shelf as well.
If I were smart enough, which apparently I'm not

Just buy a bolt (already fluted with an M16 extractor) from Pacific Tool.

Tom's right get a different action, the only other option I would choose would be to have Jim borden cut the feed rails the same way he does on his custom actions!

Just buy a bolt (already fluted with an M16 extractor) from Pacific Tool. And what about the feed rails????? They would have to be whittled a bit, or you could go center feed DBM with the right stock. Accurate Mag makes a WSM magazine for AI stocks. If this is a light hunter, that probably isn't what you want.

The feed rails aren't a concern. He's going to be using AI mags, which are center feed. You can use .308 mags and bend the feed lips out a bit for use with WSM cartridges.
It's just the bolt that you have to worry about, and I'd surely do as TAK suggested.

Got a hold of a real good fellar from this forum and CGN thats gonna do the action in the originally planned .243 AI. Dude saved my bacon as this SAUM project was my plan B. I'll throw the SAUM pipe back in the corner until a SPS WSM pops up...
