What do you guys think of the Viper HD 8x32 binoculars? Anyone spent any time with this glass?

I've been very pleased with my 8x42 Viper HD's but I haven't used them very much yet. The build quality, ergonomics and optics are superb. I like it better than binos I've owned that cost much more. Diopter and focus ring are smooth as silk with no slop.

If your looking for a great 8x32 without spending Alpha money, the Meoptas IMO are superb. This is coming from a guy that had 8x32 Ultravids.

Unless your trying to impress with a name, the Vortex Vipers do very nicely. They are good enough that you need the super high dollar binos right next to them to see any difference and even then the difference is so slight that you will wonder what the extra $500 to $1500 is. The only time I find them lacking is control of flare when looking toward bright sunlight and that is picking nits. FWIW I have owned 6X32's, 8X32's and my favorite the 8X28's.

I have not viewed this one, but I have an early (pre HD) Vortex Razor that I like a lot. If you buy it, we need to hear your review.

The 6.5 X 32 Fury's I have are a step down from the Viper, but the view is more than satisfying. If the Vipers are better you will be happy, and from what I hear the warranty is maybe the best. All in all, some mighty tasty Kool-Aid. grin

I just picked up a pair of the Viper 10X42 HD's from Cameraland and I'm very impressed. They seem at least as good as my Nikon Premiers. I also like the tripod mount. I'm going to be selling my 8X42 Premiers to cover the cost.

I had a pair of those 6.5x32's , they were a great 6x bino that didn't break the bank and had huge FOV. Couple buddies of mine bought a pair from Doug after looking through mine.

I don't have the model you are asking about. For the last ten years I have used a pair of SLC 10x42 and Premier LXL 8x32 binos. I never thought I would need another bino but had considered a 7x Leica. When I ended up stationed on the east coast I found my binos used in the TX panhandle were not great here. Vortex was getting talked up pretty good so I decided to try a Viper 6x32mm.

I like the ergonomics and size. The resolution is good and they have a pretty good "sweet spot". Mine have a little bit of rounding at the edges but not enough to bother me. I think for the money you get a lot of binocular.
