I firmly believe that this sums up the cause of the horrible turn that America has taken. While evil has always occurred in America, our moral compass was taken from Christ. As a people our moral compass has been broken and we are becoming more and more lost in a wilderness of evil. The "salt' that has preserved America has weakened, and we quickly rot into a wretched stench.

What is the core of the horrible acts going on in America. God does not do this, he simply leaves man to his own devices. Man has an incredible ability to screw things up and, acting only to his own nature, falls deep into evil. Especially look at verses 28-32, that describes what we are quickly becoming.

Romans 1: 18-32

God�s Wrath Against Sinful Humanity

18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God�s invisible qualities�his eternal power and divine nature�have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator�who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God�s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

Word, That is the truth.

Pretty straightforward. We enjoyed God's blessing, and turned from him, and are experiencing what the Bible says here.

Elsewhere it says that God allows these things to occur so that we would TURN BACK TO HIM. People ask, "Why would a loving God allow..." fill in the blank. For one purpose that is CONSISTENT with His loving nature- So that we would turn back to Him. Thank you for posting this up. What a refreshing post. Living water!

An afterthought is that the people in Boulder having a vigil for the slain elk look like they're worshiping to me, setting up pictures (images), singing songs to it, etc, etc

I would think an easy connection could be made directly from the leftist ideology to a denial of and rebellion against God. To the unknowing it's confusing and unclear due to the myriad of issues involved, but all stems from a rebellion against God. How many people on the left could make it three sentences into this w/o blowing a gasket??

And its not exactly in my control of what others do. God says only spread the word. We can do no more than that.

Does this mean they should die?

Most of the time, New Testament references to death as a punishment, point to the eternal death of Separation from God a.k.a Hell.

when ol Yahweh get's pissed off enough, he'll pinch off a ton of people's heads. until then, he'll leave us to wander around, and try to strike a direction.

actually, i doubt he's even on the Earth today. he's inspecting some other part of his Empire, while having left the Earth in good hands, his Agents of Omneity.

if we're failing, well who's fault is that?

Some where I heard it said God will help them that help themselves.

There may be inferences to it, but not in the Bible as far as I know, directly at least.
