If you are going to use it more than a little $350 is asking for trouble. That price range will not hold up to heavy use. Just the way it is.

To add and PAY ATTENTION!!!!

Auto traps are dangerous toys. Don't work on them or get you hands inside of them or you face in front of the arm when they are cocked. The arm can rip out your teeth, bust your jaw, take out an eye and cave in you skull in a heartbeat.

Keep the kids away from it until they are mature. That being said I know of at least three grown men that worked with traps on a regular basis that learned a hard lesson.

Can't say that I do. Most of the ones I am around are for Sporting Clay industrial use. They are big, well built and relatively heavy. Yet it is not uncommon for one to go down unexpectedly.

If one is serious I would contact a club that shoots trap, skeet and sporting and ask them what they would recommend for a good personal trap.

Thanks, I have thought for a while now that it would be nice to have one mounted on a small wagon so it could be positioned on the farm in such a manner as to practice various "real" shots at my convenience. I could then just take it back to the pole barn and put a trickle charger on it until nest time. More research.

I have 4 of these:

2 mounted on the trailer, 1 mounted on an old Yamaha 4wheeler with a wobbler unit and another stand alone. The one with the wobbler has throw in excess of 20,000 clays with nothing more than a few inconveniences in the 3yrs I have owned it. They are $250ish shipped and I recommend them for those shooting a few rounds a week, but if you maintain them, they work just fine. They aren't club level quality, but great for the average shooter that has a place to do it.

Check Promatic USA. The ones we use are commercial and cost about $3k, but they have less expensive models.

Yep, all of mine are White Wings

Here is the finished trailer, one thrower is 75yds south of this one

Here is an unlucky Tom who just happened along while I was picking up hulls and boxes after shooting several hundred clays:

Target loads and gun, wrong choke, but he cooperated and popped out 20yds from me when I headed him off.

I have two of the Champion Easy Birds, they retail for a little more than 350-

I have them set up with remotes and carts. I use them for practice for my daughter and I when we don't have time for the drive to the club, which is about fifty minutes away.

I have put 2000 targets through one machine and about 3000 through the other--so far no problems.

That being said, they certainly are not Apex, Promatic or other top end machines. For casual use, in my opinion they are a decent value.

Do yourself a favor. Do you like shotgunning? Are you gonna do it for the rest of your life?

Don't buy a cheapo, worthless POS trap. Buy something from Promatic or Apex that will last you a lifetime.

Get set up with a wireless Long Range System release as well.

You'll thank yourself later.

Rick I am going to go out on a limb here and say I don't think the op will shoot nearly as many clays as you. However I agree with you and battue buy quality once and be done. Plenty of parts out there. For Promatic's.
