Sir,

What's the old saying about a blind hog finding an acorn. Here is a '99 that I stumbled onto a while back. Couldn't resits as it only had a $299 price tag on it.

IIRC I looked up the serial number and it the vintage was around 1903 IIRC. However I stand to be corrected on that. Anyhow it was chambered in 303 Savage and had an octagonal barrel. It seemed to be calling my name, and it followed me home.

Here's a web image of the rifle I bought for my wife, as a 24th Anniversary present, last September.

Mounted an other 2-7 x redfield on it & she shot 2 deer with it in the season just past !!

Savage model 11 Lady Hunter - 7mm-08

Oiled American walnut stock & accutrigger, 20"bbl & "lady specific stock & LOP.

What's not to like,
a wife that shoots, beauty, accuracy and a 7mm-08 to boot. Sound like life is good.
You'd get bored if I started posting pix of the stuff I've killed with 7-08. Out of the 57 different chamberings I have loaded for, it is one of my all time fav's.

As to the Savage, I've owned a number. I've stated on more than one occasion, if the only thing I was interested in was accuracy, all my rifles would be Savage. And that is not a put down. I'm about to pull the trigger on a American Classic in 250 Savage.

I think you'll love the Alakan cruise. We sure did.
We did the "inner passage" Alaskan Cruise in '08 for our 30th. We got a "view" cabin where we could sit out and watch the shoreline as we went up. I took a couple cameras (w/ telephoto lenses) Leica 10 x 40's and a Leupold Spotting Scope. Started in Vancouver and made about a half dozen stops the circled the glaciers at College Fjord. Had a ball. Did it in mid July so we could see the salmon spawn, bears and eagles. I can't tell you how many bears, whales, porpoise and eagles we saw. The landscape, mountains, clouds and watefalls are breathtaking. This flatlander loved it. Hopefully you will too.

Cheers & thank you,

We're doing it in reverse.

5 day land tour first & then back down the inner passage to Vancouver. 1 extra glacier visit that way.

Neither of us can wait !!!!!

Paul.

O.K. A little brag on Karnis. I bought a Pre-64 M70 Standard rifle in .30-06 last year just to have a Pre-64. The stock had a recoil pad before I bought it. After I got it, discovered it had also been bedded. I have wider palms, and short fingers. The stock just felt "thick" thru the grip area. So, after reading all of the positive comments about this guy named "Karnis", I struck up a conversation with him via PM. Explained that I wanted to thin out the grip area without necessarily loosing the appearance of the factory checkering. Just got it back last week, and I am very pleased ! First pic below is the "before". Second is the "after".

The finish and checkering are immaculate. But, the true compliment is that while I could "feel" the difference in the stock, the changes were not obvious until I compared the pictures.

Karnis, Well done. Thank you.

Not quite a fence post. I stumbled across this chain while looking for a bear last night. The rifle is a 1920 Savage in 250-3000.

Great pics y'all. No fence post balancing acts. I ain't that lucky. But some wood involved in these. I prefer trees.
