Hi guys,
Have any of you chambered a bolt action 22LR with what they call a .22LR Bentz chamber? The reason I ask is that I would like a tighter chamber on this rifle I have, but don't want or need a true match chamber. I believe the Bentz dimensions are what amount to a match chamber for use on semi-auto guns. I am thinking the "looser" Bentz dimensioned chamber will give me the tighter chamber I am looking for on the bolt action gun, but still be able to chamber non-match ammo without too much problem.
Any thoughts on this, anyone? Thanks!

Personally,I would rather have a true match chamber and just stay away from CCI and mexican ammo. You will likely have to fire a chambered round but I just wouldn't go half way if accuracy was a top concern and I would think it was if you are going to the trouble for a custom barrel.
Having said that,I haven't researched the Bentz chamber.

I would have a match chamber and shoot match ammo. I have no experience with Benz chamber. I am looking for accuracy, period. I have never tried bulk ammo in my match chamber.

22 LR is not difficult to chamber regardless of dimensions. I too would go with a match chamber and live with having to fire a round before it can be extracted.

From what I have observed with a "standard" chamber and a Lilja "match" chambered barrel is that the match barrel will have the bullet hit the lands, and for the most part be more accurate. Extracting a loaded round may be difficult in a match chamber. If the rifle is a semi auto a match chamber could cause some issues. In a bolt rifle or single shot no issues.

I have a Bentz reamer that I have used to build up 22 auto pistols and a couple of Ruger No.1 rimfire conversions. The Bentz is probably a relative standard for match type chambers in autos, but the specs are tighter than the ots rifle chambers. http://www.pacifictoolandgauge.com/reamers2.htm#rftabsThe No.1 conversion will hole at 25yds for 5 shots with Remington High Speed and Winchester Dynapoint with the Bentz chamber. You could always use the Bentz reamer in short and cut the rim recess with a boring bar as a possible experiment.

I have both reamers and would NOT use the Bentz reamer in a bolt gun Heck just get a 10/22 and be done with it. Im not against the semi auto but treat the bolt with respect the other thing is if ya cant stand it the bentz will go in behind the match but not the other way around.
