Can a person pass a Background Check and buy a firearm with a Domestic Violence conviction?

Well, Barry thinks otherwise. From his hissy fit after UBC failed in the Senate: By now its well known that 90% American people support universal background checks to make it harder for dangerous person to buy a gun. Were talking about convicted felons, people convicted of domestic violence, people with a severe mental illness. Ninety percent of Americans support that idea. Most Americans think thats already the law. A few minutes ago, 90% of Democrats in the Senate voted for that idea but its not gonna happen because 90% of Republicans in the senate just voted against that idea. I know, I know...y'all are surprised he lied. And like most/all democrats regarding gun use, has no clue at all. Ol' skeeter!

workmate can't, and he didn't get either the felony, or have DV added to his misdomenor. There was a period when he shouldn't have had access, but he learned the hard way about booze. I would like to see a sunset on some of the denials. A lot of people do not grow up until 25 or 30. Maybe having a clean slate for 10 years, and the record is expunged.

I'm sick of that 90% line ofbullspit that poll only had 1000 people answer it the problem wasn't the sample size....that was big enough if selected properly. the problem was the phrasing of the question, which was designed to elicit the propaganda response needed. If they had asked those thousand people "all sales through dealers, including internet and gun show sales, currently require background checks to purchase firearms. do you think such checks should also be required when you give a gun to one of your children, inherit one from a relative, or sell one to a friend?", you can bet the numbers would be dramatically different. Obama and his liar's brigade have tried very hard to convince people that 40% ( a number pulled straight out of his ass) of gun sales don't go through a back ground check, that's part of their justification for their losing crusade.

The point is that the constitutional law professor does not know the law, or is a blatant liar.
Maybe both.

Not legally...unless the rights were restored by a court. Having a court restore your rights covers possessing a firearm, to purchase one from an FFL without lying on the 4473 and pass the BG check you have to have your firearms rights restored by the BATFE. That isn't going to happen as there is a rider on their budget appropriation prohibiting the expenditure of funds on restoration of firearms rights. Has been that way for many years.

Not legally...unless the rights were restored by a court. Which is interesting, here in Australia all offences are expunged from record after ten years (if you can believe it), I know a couple of fellows that commited armed robbery and dealt drugs in their early twenties and they have current firearms licences...and are good upright citizens. There are a few in town with who have had DVO, AVO, common assualt convictions , and they also were able to get their firearms licences after the ten years were up. Some people can change if they want to.
These are my opinions, feel free to disagree.
