Except in looks some very pedestrian modern cars have it all over the 308 GTS in performance.
Even the latest Quatrovalvole (sp)versions.

andrews1958,

Personally I think you should do what I have been dreaming about. Have someone make you a fiberglass '56 Ford Crown Victoria body. Mount it on a hand made chassis with an engine generating 500+ street HP. Make it ride and sound like a Lexus but handle like a Corvette.

O, nevermind. Just get what you want. Most of my male cousins died in there fifties so they didn't make it to sixty-five.

Hell with it's spectacular Quattro system the R8 could work year round even up here in snowy MN.
Hard to say that about a Ferrari.

As a certified financial spender, I'd advise you to buy a slightly used one.
You've waited this long....what's another month or two.

P.S. please send the $7500 to the Paypal account I PM'd you.
Certified spending advice is not free.

P.S.S. if you got that much extra and can still retire at 55, I'm hoping you go for it.

Good advice wage; I've seen enough buy 575M's (one of my favorites) for $250K plus new only to cry a river when they tire of it and go to sell it with 7K on the ODO. You can get a good low mileage 575 for around 100K. Unbelievable car for the money.

Wet Blanket Warning:
I heard a guy in church yesterday say that when they went to Africa they saved a dying womans life with $3 worth of malaria medication.

That hit me hard. But by the grace of our God that could be any one of us in Africa instead of here. If a man's been given that much excess capital, above and beyond a "good life", why not invest it in something that matters and pays you back in eternity? To them that's been entrusted with much, much is required.

We have no idea how much he has already done.
I'll worry about my decisions, not his or yours.

I like the looks of this 458. Only 835 miles!

If you have the bucks and have always wanted one - get one but buy pre-owned! After you put about 5k miles on it, car fever wears off a bit. Always wanted a black 308 gts, but they are slow and all trashed out now.

Wow, that 458 is the most beautiful Ferrari in a long time.

Simple, if you can afford one, and want one, then buy one (in that order).

My work has taken me around the world where I have lived in some of the most beautiful places and also sum of the worst slum holes/dangerious places you can imagine.

I will be retiring shortly at 55 (unless I get board)and am looking to buy a Ferrari as a toy for me to play with.

My wife thinks I am going through a mid life crises by wanting one. Others think I will look like an old fool trying to look young. While others think I should work until I am 65 and to continue to save all of my money.

These reasons are far from the truth with me as I have always wanted one. Love the looks and sound of them.It would be a dream come true for me.

What are your thoughts if you were in my shoes? Buy one or get older and continue to keep dreaming about having one.
...............Before you get into a Ferrari, I`d advise you to take a hard look as to how you would be using it. As a daily driver? For weekends only? Cross country trips? Gonna keep the miles low on it? Plus everything else.

Don`t know what the price point is for the Ferrari you have in mind, but I`d guess for that cost, you`d probably be able to put a new `013 Shelby GT500 and a new Viper into your garage assuming it is large enough.

And I`m willing to bet that the overall maintainence costs of those two (combined) might be cheaper than the Ferrari?

Yep! Ferraris are great lookers, fun and exiting to drive, and great for boosting up one`s alter ego.

If in your shoes, I`d personally take a new Shelby GT500 (0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds @ 200+ MPH), or a ZR1 Vette, or Viper. Also look to see what Chevy will do with their new C7 Vette engine offerings (500-600 HP versions?) and put the cost differences back in your pocket. The new Shelby GT500s, ZR1s, Vipers are just as fast if not more so.

And if you want even more excitement, you can get the 750-800 HP "Super Snake" Mustang versions; 110-120K or thereabouts? And there are places who will modify Mustangs to get up to 1000 HP. Either way cheaper than the Ferrari.

Yeah I know. But they aren`t Ferraris..... laugh laugh laugh

I'd rather take flying lessons, buy a 185 and a supercub, and leave the pavement behind.

If you have to ask, no.
If you are single and looking to impress women, maybe.
Like the above poster, wouldn't fit my outdoor lifestyle (if I could afford one).
My Z71 is always loaded to the gills with outdoor equipment or tools for the ranch.

If it were me.....I'd rent the car and the high end blonde for a week.
You could be pretend to be young and good looking and she would pretend to like it and you.
Win/Win.
