Since I only hunt whitetails premium bullets have never been a necessity for the medium bores I shoot.

243. 100gr. Hornady or Remington CL
257 Roberts 120 gr Remington CL Have used the 117gr Hornady
270 Win. 130gr Rem CL
308 150gr Win PP lately
30-30 150 gr speer
223 55gr Hotnady (never shot a deer with this one.)
.50 Swaged .490 hornady RB with patch
Basically I reload for economy so I shoot the above because I have a lot of them and as long as they shoot decent in my rifle there I'm good to go. The deer and ground hogs don't seem to care for them though.

gunner, you sure like to TSX..I never fired one..I can see their use in larger rifles, but why in the Hornet and .223??? I forgot my Hornet when I made my list..but I usually use either 35 grain Vmax or 46 grain Rem. HP.. You certainly have a fine list of rifles there..

LOL, I loaded a crap load of the 45 gr TSX's for my Hornet to deer hunt with em, then found out I gotta have at least 55 grs to be legal in Okleehoma. grin

223/5.56 TSX's are fer two legged critters in various AR's.

And Thanks for the compliment, same to ya.

I feel the same as you.

Whatever the caliber, I usually don't go below about the mid-point of offerings or to the very heaviest projectile available, tho I've experimented with several and use a couple of the latter.

The 225 and 250 gr loads in the .338, the 165 and 180 in the .30's, 117/120 in .25-06, 100 gr. in .243, 150 in .270, 140 in .260 have all been very good to me.

Generally a mid weight for caliber.

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.

A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

Likewise, mid to upper weight in each caliber.

Keep your gun-hand ready and your eyes peeled.
