My local pawn sport shop has taken in, on consignment, an excellent condition Ruger #1-B in caliber 218 Bee. It has very nice wood on it - not spectacular or excellent but above average wood.
The Rifle is complete with a Leupold fixed 12 power scope with adjustable objective.
I would be a player for this very clean Rifle but I already have one of these in 218 Bee.
My Ruger #1-B has a Leupold 6x18 variable scope on it and it shoots quite well indeed.
I am not familiar enough with caliber rarities of Ruger #1's so I am not sure if the "asking" consignment price of $1,100.00 for the whole set-up is a good buy or not.
Anyone familiar with the rarity of the 218 Bee in the Ruger #1-B?
Just thought I would post this here in case anyone has a hankerin for a #1-B in 218 Bee.
Phone number of the shop is 406-683-9844 - they are closed Sundays and Mondays.

maybe "uncommon" would be a better word than rare. There's one on GB now, for more. If it is a black pad rifle, and the wood has decent figure in it that's a pretty good deal IMO.

I have downloaded thousands of rounds to 218 Bee level for a Ruger #1 223 and a Ruger #1V 223.

The 218 Bee is the right power level for ground squirrels that are way out there.

yeah, that's the one I saw. In completed auctions you can find them selling from $900 to $1500+, so if the wood's good $1100 seems decent.

I've only seen two, mine and a buddy's. We ordered them at the same time from the same dealer, 8yrs ago, maybe. Don't think the chambering was offered in the "red pad days".

it was, though again, "not common". Check completed auctions at GB, and you'll see several of them. I think red pad may actually be more common than black; maybe ENU or someone else with data will chime in.

It would be interesting to know just how many #1s were chambered in 218.

I had one about 3 years ago. I bought it from a friend, just never took a liking to it. I sold it along with about 400 brass, RCBS dies, Leupold (vx-1 or vx-2, can't remember)4x12 scope and around 300 Hornady 40g v-max bullets for $900. Used it to fund my Alaskan 454. Never looked back. Though is was a nice rifle.

Tex_n_cal: Thanks for your opinion on the value of this nifty little Rifle.
It does have the Leupold scope on it so maybe I should be taking a closer look at it?
Trouble is I am now broke until the first of the month.
I saw it at the shop this morning so its still available.
