I've heard great things about the APCU line of military clothing made by Propper in the USA. The thread I posted about hydrophobic materials and the comment by Take A Knee reminded me I wanted/needed one of these jackets, so I set out to find one. Well, did I ever find one. Check out this deal. I've seen a few sites that say the suggested retail is $439. http://www.militaryclothing.com/IBS/SimpleCat/Product/asp/product-id/36879793.htmlCheck out the rest of their APCU clothing, too. The deals aren't quite as good, but there are still some good ones.

Does anyone know what kind of durability these have? Whether Propper is legit? I bought something similar at Sniper's Hide and it was total crap. I ripped out an eyelet within 5 minutes of handling.

RE: PROPPER gear. FYI I can only relate my experience with Propper. I have several items made by them, and in two years of outdoor use, NO problems, so far. All the gear is manufactured in the USA.

Propper is great stuff. They make a backpack with Arcteryx that the marines use, I believe. I've wanted to buy one for a long time, but haven't found a good one for a good price. Most are heavily used and cost a ton.
It's USA made and i've heard great things about it, particularly about this softshell. I was going to buy at $200 - $25 is a steal. I bought two. I'm anxious to try it out.

I received an email message tonight from Gear Zone Tactical that they cancelled the order that I placed with them last night for the Propper jacket. They provided no explanation.
WTF? I guess maybe they sold out and their website inventory was not updated in real time. Regardless, a simple explanation would have gone a long way to make me feel better about ever ordering anything from them again....

Mine came in the mail the other day. I havent used it but the xl fit is good. The waist may be a little big I have a 34 inch waist. I got mine from military clothing. It seems like water resistance is good and the 4 way stretch is good. Time will tell how much I use it and how durable it is.

Propper makes a lot of police gear, seems to be popular for the money with those guys

To resurrect a topic: The very first time that I wore this thing was on a truck camping weekend. We went to the store to get a gallon of bar and chain oil for the saw. I carried the jug of oil to the truck basketed in my arm. When I looked down, the inside of my right sleeve was absolutely covered with gooey oil. The plastic jug had been damaged and leaked badly onto my jacket and jeans. We went back in and got a different jug and I cleaned up as best I could with paper towels. I thought my new jacket was ruined. As the weekend progressed however, the stain began to fade and by the time we left it was barely visible. I wore the same jacket this weekend to a college track meet. I am very impressed with everything about it. In fact, I'm wearing it right now.
