Can a .473 bolt face be milled out to magnum size face ?

I would not buy something that runs on any kind of primer given the possibility of primer shortages and even regulations. In fact, why not buy a flintlock? Really. Rocks aren't going away anytime soon.

Thanks, my Smith said it couldn't be done ,something about the extracter or ejecter wouldn't work out. I thought I remember reading that it could be done. I have a .308 that I may want to get rebarreled into 7 SAUM and was wondering if I could reuse bolt for project.

Actually it may be cheaper to buy a PT&G mag. bolt and forget about opening your bolt face and installing a new extractor.

Both butch and your smith are leading you in the right way....IMO. It can be done, and have a sako type extractor installed....but for near even money you can get a ptg or swap bolts and have the option of going back or selling your bolt.
But it sure can be done, it's just money.
