Jagoff, follow this link and read catshooters description of how a scope actually works. I think you will find this very informative.
http://longrangehunting.com/ubbthre...=15670&an=0&page=0#15670

Sheephunter, rifle scopes work as follows....

The rear lens (eyepiece) only adjusts so the reticule appears sharp and clear to the user. It does not do anything to focus the scope on the target. It works exactly the same way a magnifying glass does so you can see a fine line on a sheet of paper with it. Make a '+' on a sheet of paper and look at it with a magnifying glass and you'll see and hopefully understand. Unless your vision changes, the magnifying glass will always need to be the same distance from the paper to see the + clear and sharp.

Does this make sense to you? You need to understand this before I go further in explaining anything else.

This is the way I've always been "focusing" my scopes, If I didn't know how to focus why are my scopes so nice and clear.

Am thinking Sheephunter was simply trying to do you a favor and you [bleep] on him........................

Do you always do the "Instant Expert" thing when people try to help you? You make mistakes so basic I can understand them and then you want to stay right there on the pulpit
shining your light of reason and imagined experience all over every one. But it looks like enough light gets through for most to see what you don't know.

Big Stick got that right. It was pretty rude for you to do that
for the guy willing to help you with the easy stuff.

What are you guys talking about?

That was a quote from the Longrangehunting thread on Focus vs. Parallax. I was just trying to explain that I always knew how to focus a scope when I went to Gander the other nite, and the salesman tried to tell me how to focus a scope in which focusing included the image as well, always knew it was only the reticle, but when he turned out that eyepiece on the 2x20 and it cleared up, I'm like, WHAT! Since when do scopes focus from the eyepiece? But the damn scope cleared up, and I had to tell you guys what I "learned" at Gander Mtn. And made me look like a dumbass. Wait till I see that salesman and show him the 6 pages I printed out from catshooters post.

I don't shat on anyone, if someone "learns" me a thing or three, I greatly appreciate it. It was only a quote, nothing more, never even posted/replied to Sheephunter.

I did ask at the end of the thread why the 2x20 and my 1.5-6 Burris cleared up when I turned the eyepiece out, and was answered by Bartb, much appreciate that from him, printed that too, I'll be at Gander come Thursday and show my salesman friend catshooters post.

DID NOT mean to shat on anyone, just a misunderstanding on your part thinking I was proclaiming expertise and shatting on sheephunter.

You guys really don't have any idea what kind of a person I am, and I think you'd have a great time arguing with me about scopes, stocks and whatever else comes up. It's easy to judge a person on a forum, isn't it? I'm really an easy going guy, fwiw. Jay

P.S. I'm not as dumb as you look. Lighten up, It's a joke.

Bart,

I have been ruminating and trying to make the best of this situation for years.
Maybe you can direct me to what I have to live with.

Given the fact that all my scopes dont have seperate adjustment for paralax and focus.

I believe - correct me if wrong ) that the only adjustment in the rear of the scope is meant to adjust the focus for a certain distance.
Of course ,doing so, I mess up,when I adjusted the paralax before, using - yes- the same ring

Reading up, I think these scopes are supposed to have an "inborn" paralax for the "convential distances, but not necessarily aged eye?

Anyway, best as I can do is adjust for focus at selected distance and live with the paralax

to complicate, Of course I have a "magnification" ring / adjustment too

thanks for your suggestions
