Oregons Largest Wolverine looks just like Oregons Smallest Bear. Do not be confused my friends. wink laugh shocked
The Savage performed brilliantly, like they do. 200 Grain hornady is now a nearly perfect 152 grain mushroom. The kid had a good time and learned all about bears. Makes all the work worthwhile. Especially since I made him do all the work.

Packing an extra 2o pounds, (and I'm not talking about the guns and gear) requires copious amounts of fluids in the heat.

What the heck are they eating that has seeds this time of year??!!

Fireball, ya sure know how to jurk at a ol' mans heart strings! I grew up in Southern Oregom (Wimer) back in the '40s' and '50s.
When I see pics like those, I try to imagine were it is! Is it along the ol' Sky line trail, from upper East Evans, to Fish lake, or perhaps, on that trip I took from Fish Creek Vally, over to Rabbit Ears?? In my younger years, Long before the country was crisscrossed with loggin' roads, I had hiked the whole Oregon cascades, many times, even going south into Ca.'s Marbles. Is that a big pizz fir that Karl is standing next to??
Thank ya kindly for the pics Fireball!

OOOPS, seeds in bear poo?? Timothy or rye?? As ya know, we had to plant all scared areas to grass. Two of the main grasses were timothy and rye.

Twink,
I'm glad you enjoyed the pics! I didn't check the tree to see what kind it was, but it's a fir for sure. Lots of sugarpine in this country too. Saw the biggest madrone I've ever seen here at over 3' on the stump. Talk about your firewood! I hunt close to the Oregon/Cali border since Wimer is the other direction from my place. Sounds you and I would have a lot to talk about, since the older I get the better I used to be also! grin wink Good to hear about the Rabbit Ears, used to bowhunt elk there and that's some remote ground. Have a great day one and all, Monday-back-to-reality-day.

I love posting up photo's of Oregon, in case you didn't figure it out. I know people get house-bound and daydream, so we can all get out together. I could post bunches, but I try to be respectful that this is a Savage collectors forum. It's my home on the Campfire, so I think of all of you first when I have something to share. Thanks for being patient with that. I'll try to carry a Savage to make it all semi-legit, (rolls eyes) smile
