It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

Thanks for sharing. The Leica waterproofness results were pretty interesting, especially in light of their warranty. I wonder how their $3K rangefinding bino compares in this respect.

If binos can't tolerate being submerged under a little bit of water for one hour...makes me wonder about their abilitiy to hold in the nobles for very long....

Interesting.
Both sets of Leicas leaked, both the geovid and the ultravid. The Swarovski EL's didn't. According to one poster that's the opposite of what always happens, Swarovski's leak and Leicas are built like tanks. It's good to see someone independently test that "hypothesis".

I'd like to see how my 10x42 Classics would fare in that.... they seem pretty tough in their own right.

Shame they didnt include the meoptas. Probably the best thing going right now for a $1000.

I can guarantee something is amiss here, and I can bet that Leica is working hard to get to the bottom of it. Not saying the testing was flawed; seemed very fair, actually. No company would be fool enough to give the highest rating on binocular waterproofness (or anything else) in the industry and knowingly not meet it. They even OFFERED a Geovid up for testing along side the Ultravid.
There are people who have been struck by lightning more than once. A US forest ranger held the record at 7.
FWIW, I know they are in the processes of moving to brand new manufacturing facilities in Portugal and Germany.

Interesting report but not sure about the first two catagories; hot and cold in relation to the adjustment knob. When you look at the Swarvskis they loose 5 points on this issue. I don't really think thats all that important of a test but that's just me.

Actually, CH, if you reread the old posts about this, the Swaros that leaked were usually older binoculars with a couple of years on them. When tested new, I know of none that leaked. Funny, these guys had such bad results from the Leicas. Lots of serious hunters have used these in the field, under much tougher conditions than these tester used, and they have rarely had problems. For periods of many years I might add. BTW, who are these guys that tested these binoculars ? I can remember some other so called tests where DEVA did some impact testing where they impacted US built rifle scopes twice as much as they did the euro models. And saw nothing wrong with these methods. E

Since I don`t take a bath or shower or swim with my bino`s on. This test is useless.
