My favorite to this point are Talley LW's, but I do want to try a set of Conetrols one day.

Burris Signature Zee rings with the inserts but I lately have been roughing up the slick inside surface with emery cloth to help them grip a bit better after having a scope slip. No trouble since. Never a ringmark with these. I use the offset feature to gain elevation on my long range rigs. Also have Talley lightweights and Warne Maximas and like them OK.

Weaver Bases with lapped USA Weaver Grand Slam steel rings(not the China production, they suck).

I don't always shoot Mausers, but when I do...I prefer VZ-24s.

DF, is that a Maurice Ottmar stocked Champlin action those Len Brownell rings are sittin' atop? No. Mr. Brownell did all the metal and wood work on that one. His workmanship is awesome. I've removed the skeleton butt plate and the inletting is unbelievable. I've done enough inletting, stocking, etc. to really apreciate his level of expertise and perfection. He was a top craftsman and IIRC, was hired by Bill Ruger to design the #1 and 77 stocks. I was told the QD rings he made were prototypes for early Talley QD rings. From these side by side photos, that's not hard to believe. DF

The Talleys are nice, especially for the money, but not the best:
