Couple of things worth mentioning...
One of the Glock 22s (Gen3) is going on about 13K rounds without any issues, at all, that weren't related to one bad mag. And the vast majority of those rounds were with the original 3 factory magazines that came with it.
Our competition team shoots M&Ps almost exclusively. I get a chance to see a LOT of rounds go through a LOT of M&Ps on a regular basis. In June we'll shoot together at one team practice and two different matches, probably 600 rounds or so, per pistol per man for the month of June. The M&Ps have been bomb proof and accurate. The triggers can use some work sometimes, and we've changed the giant factory sights to finer versions, but other than that the M&Ps can run with pistols that are much more expensive.
I went through 1300 rounds with an M&P out of the box without doing anything to it. No lube, no cleaning, just bullets and it never balked. It started getting sluggish after a press check and I had to start back to work so I cleaned it. When our guys were testing the M&P before we adopted it they took one out of the box, lubed it according to the manual, and then fired over 12,000 rounds through it before it malfunctioned. At somewhere over 12,000 the slide locked up chambering a round. They used a rubber mallet to beat the slide into battery, fired that round, lubed it again, and then made it to almost 15,000 rounds without another problem.
I've been a firearms instructor with agencies that issued the Glocks and M&Ps. So aside from the few that I've personally owned I've been exposed to a LOT of both of them, aside from what's listed above. I have recently joined the M&P club and find that I LOVE them way more than my Glocks.....whats your take when comparing the 2?
