This was my first year of eligibility for sheep in Co. I screwed up and listed S51 ewe hunt as my third choice and DREW it. If I'm lucky enough to eventually draw a ram tag, I will go guided. But, I'd like to give this tag a go DIY. Anyone have any experience in the area? Thanks in advance!

If you can afford the tag fee just go.

It should not be that difficult to find a ewe.

Check out the forums on the Rocky Mountain Bighorn Society www.bighornsheep.org plenty of help there.

Exbiologist may be able to give you info on past year kill sites. Not a lot of public land in that unit.

I've hunted S51 also. Easiest place to see women and children is probably Trinchera Peak. You can drive your jeep right to the top. Glass the drainages south. If you want a little harder hunt look at the drainages north of Mariquita Peak at the south end of the unit.

Good luck! That will still be a trophy 99% of hunters won't ever get. Post lots of pics.
