Lower middle class Georgia boy looking for Texas pay hunt (management buck) to take then 8 year old son on...

Ideas of where to look and who to consider?

Budget would be $1500 to $2000

Out of curiosity, why do you want to pay up to $2000 and travel to Texas to shoot a management buck?

Not knocking it, just wondering.

Where I live, we have a suffering deer population and it's not as much about the "KILL" as it would be for him to see tons of deer, new sights, enjoy time together outside the norm, etc.

I understand the concept. Making the trip and seeing/hunting new country is more important than the size of the antlers.

Okay, makes sense. Have fun. Wish I could help you with an outfitter.

Some of them "management bucks" have pretty good horns, as far as I'm concerned.

You should look up "muliemike". He ha a hunt listed in the classifieds and seems to be a real good guy. His prices were under your budget.

I'm also interested in something such as this as well. Maybe a couple deer and hog combo hunt.

The problem when you start looking for a combo hunt the outfitter/landowner will put you on a crapload of hogs and that will most likely be your hunt. You want someone who specializes in deer that will allow you to shoot hogs/javelinas as a side option while/after you kill a deer...not someone who advertises both types of hunts.

I hunt South GA and we are covered up with deer and have killed some very nice 170's. Never been to Texas to hunt, but I'm sure it would be fun to see different terrain and other game!
