A very, very cherry (though not for long) 16-4 in .32 H&R Magnum. Notice: the factory Goncalo Alves grips still have the factory inspection sticker on them. They are, and will remain, pristine. [img][image] http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b165/VAnimrod/SW16-4.jpg[/img][/image]

Very nice, one of the best cartridges for the K frame. The H&R can be a little twitchy, but still very accurate with the right loads and bullets. The 85 grain XTP can be a good 'un at 1200+.

I might... not.
This is my permanent training and woods carry handgun now.
The little .32 S&Ws make less noise and recoil than .22 LRs in a 6" barrel, and the K-frame fits most hands (including mine) better. Esp. with the Hogue Monogrips. The little .32 S&Ws will get used for squirrels/rabbits up close and to get new shooters (girlfriend and daughter, when she's ready) going.
The .32 S&W Longs are a step up, and will be just that for training, with moderately more noise and almost the same non-recoil/jump.
The .32 H&Rs give .38+P performance with 2/3s the recoil and noise. Plenty for bedside duty, small game and varmints, and deer if they are at less than 100 feet away, I think.
I like this one... a lot. It came via a very fine fellow here at the Campfire, and I owe him one. If/when I get a chance to meet up with him, well, it will be my honor and my pleasure to buy dinner.

generalstuart;
I agree; a 4" 16-4 would be SWEET, and should I ever find one, I shall have it.
Hmmm... you may also be right re: those wood grips. Perhaps I'll do a little snoopin' around and see what can be had...
BTW - those Ropers look great.

Quote/BTW ... General .... you do have some extremely nice lookin' shootin' irons!!! (But I guess you didn't need me to tell you that ) /Quote/ "Hello George Thanks for the kind words. I have been collecting and swapping to up grades for about 20 Years. The Internet has opened NEW avenues to finding hard to get revolver's but it carries a large INCREASE in price as well. I find that local gun shows can net some very nice hard to find revolvers as well. I recently picked up this "Dayton-Revolver". I came across it at a local show. The seller had it in the wrong box, as it was a newer Lear Sigler. He was out side grabbing a smoke like I, and taking a break from the traffic in the show. I asked what he had in the box, and he explained a Nickel Smith.. I perked up, and asked to see it. he explained NO ONE wanted it,as it was a .38 Special, and he was looking to replace it with a fixed sighted .38 special as he did not care for the adjustable sight models. I NOTICED it looked different as the extractor shroud was missing and it had a heavy barrel. It showed very little use, so we swapped and I had to give him a little boot as I was carrying a model 10-7 to swap off that day. I promptly left and when I got home was surprised to see I had swapped off for a rare Dayton revolver. These were made between 1965 & 1966. They were a special order revolver placed by "Dayton outdoor sports" back then. This was prior to the custom shop as well, so interesting enough the 4 block serial numbers were a special production line order. The features were a heavy 4" barrel, Baughman quick draw front sight and this was an option only offered on the model 15 but not on the 14.oddly enough it is also a pinned on sight. They used various hammer and triggers on this model, and grips were available with target's or service being offered.In it's 2 year run there were only # 2038 of them produced and most were blued finish. I am going to have this gun lettered due to it's low production as well. The neat part is as I mentioned back then there was NO performace shop for special ordered guns and frames were all Pre-Stamped for revolvers in nearby bins for production, so it must have been a job keeping these special order revolvers in running serial number sequence for the 4 blocks of serial numbers. Sorry, "Vanimrod".. I did not mean to Hijack your model 16 Thread. take care, thegeneral.

Hello Here is another recent Nickel purchae. It is a model 19-4 made in 1980. It came barely fired and I have since added the box and documents it did not come with.I am supposed to pick up a NEW one today as well.. Pictures of that one Later. I crossed over the other side and that one will be my FIRST Colt Revolver.. Regards, the general.

VAnimrod ~ Nice piece. Here I have my 6" with some more vintage grips to my liking. I have a 8" one that is awaiting its SDM gold bead front sight. Guess I will order 2 while I am at it.
