Who should decide whether wolves are hunted in Upper Michigan?

The Natural Resources Commission (Fish & Game)

Or

Voters? (a recipe for disaster ala California)

Fish & Game, unless government wildlife management is tossed altogether. It can't be done in pieces by either side.

He's probably planting a few more wolves this morning and is busy. Leave it to the hunters just classify them as preditors.

By all means the voters. The majority are clustered down in the Detroit/Ann Arbor area and vote blue regardless of issue, having been bought and paid for by relentless government spending programs.

All of them wolf experts with first hand experience, I am sure.

I think there are too many liberal trolls in MI that it'll get shot down and I can't see the DNR having any better of a go with it (they barely know their ass from a hole in the ground).

The UP should secede from Michigan and join Wisconsin.

Neither. Whoever owns the land should have that decision. Public land? Who ever the voters put in office need to decide.

I live in the U.P. and the zones((3 so far listed) for wolf hunts are all in the northern part around Marquette. My county has a huge wolf problem but the DNR feels our packs are just at a sustaining level. I think the wolf hunting should be done on a scientific basis, not by vote, but the science has to be good , not an estimate by some weekend warriors who love wolves. P.S. I am not a real fan of wolves by the way, I think the Canadians should keep them.

Why don't they let the deer and moose have a vote?

SE Michigan should have been given to Ohio in the Toledo strip agreement. This is would be a red State without that chunk of real estate.

All local issues should be decided by locals.

As a resident of the UP, I think that all of the wolves should be placed in Lansing and Detroit, since that's where the majority of wolf lovers live. That way they can learn to fully appreciate having the wolves nearby. These are the same voters that voted down a dove season in Michigan.

One more thing, the wolf lovers should have to pay all of the expenses associated with the wolves.

Hopefully the Nat Res Comm is in favor of "managing" all species under their jurisdiction.

But, for sure, "ballot box biology" is not what is needed.

we went through that here on bear baiting and "aerial ungulate enhancement".

Just received an email from the MI DNR today that they have confirmed another dog killing by a wolf.

I believe we will have a wolf season this fall.

If the animals are to be introduced, they should be released within the area carrying the highest density of supportive voters.

Hunting? On a county by county basis.

A season allowing 6 or 8 wolves to be hunted won't help. The settlers wiped them out for a reason. I know for a fact that we now have them in the lower pen. but the DNR won't admit it. I don't think enough people have enough balls to shoot enough of them to get them under control. We like some other states, REALLY have a problem. I personally think poision is your friend, take care of a whole pack at once. [bleep] those wolves!
