What is the skinny on the FV-SR? I like the 16" barrel as it is probably under 6 lbs. without a scope. Don't know if I could get a suppressor in this commie state, but the gun looks cool. Maybe stick a Weaver rimfire scope on there.

Also, anyone have one of the Savage model 42s? They look ugly as sin, but interesting.

I thought about getting one of those. I went to the shop to order one because everywhere was out of stock, or 50 - 100 bucks overpriced. After handling the savage, the marlin, and the cz's i left without buying any, just seemed to be made cheaply..... The cz's had the best feel by far,but to salty for me.
I did a lil research, and the savages have extraction issues, and i soon saw this firsthand when my cousin bought a mk ll 22mag savage. The gun shot good, but he was using a pocket knife to get every third or fourth spent case out. I bought a used marlin 880sq, and couldn't be happier, it shoots 5 shot groups that a dime will cover at 35 yds with the right ammo, and thats with a non ao 3x9 60 dollar bushnell scope. I paid 175 bucks for it...

Hmm, I have a ten year old Savage MKII and extraction has never been an issue.

I had one of the FV-SR's for awhile. Mine came with a stock that was broken all the way through in the cut for the bolt handle. I called Savage and they mailed me one right out, to their credit.

Once the new stock arrived, I mounted the barreled action and mounted a scope. While trying to get the scope zeroed at the first range trip, the magazine came apart at the seam along the rear of the magazine body.

That was enough for me. I got a replacement mag and then traded the rifle.

That will likely be my last Savage rimfire.

suppressors are legal in MD. i recommend a trust...no need to get MSP's non-disapproval and wait even longer before sending in your paperwork to ATF.
