Mickey got her done quick! The hardest part was waiting a full year for the Rock 5r mountain rifle contour barrel. Sent Mickey the barrel blank and a SPS .223 barreled action. Got it back today. Had Mickey true, install, and cut to 22". Did the mag mod tonight with a piece of 1/4" x 1" aluminum bar stock. Threw it in a Ti stock with a Timney and PT&G T/G. Postal scale says 6 lbs 13 ozs with Talley's and VXIII 2.5-8x. I'm callin' it bueno...........but I'm really goin' to call it "El Guapo", which means "the handsome one". Throat allows COL of 2.465" kissin' with 80 Gr TTSX. I'm expecting to work up from 2900 fps with TAC powder. We'll see how fast we can go, but 2900 ought to be mucho perfecto.

The 25-204 has always interested me.
How long does the case neck turn out to be? Also, what is the water capacity of the case to the top of the neck?
At least give us the case neck length. I'm still wondering how much difference there is between this round and the old 250-3000 Savage.

At least give us the case neck length. I'm still wondering how much difference there is between this round and the old 250-3000 Savage. Neck is std 204 length. No fireformimg. Just run it through a 257 Raptor or 25-204 sizing die. Gary Reeder stocks Hornady 257 Rapter FL dies and cost is $100. CH4D can provide 25-204 dies, and I've heard there's other ways of doing it as well. I worked up a starting load in Quickload, and I weighed H2O to overflow at 32.5 Grs with Hornady brass that had been run through the sizing die. Also revised the bore and bullet diameter and cross-sectional bore area in the program. At 2.45" COL, bullet shank seating depth is .353" for the 80 TTSX. ETA: Neck length is .200", looking at diagram of 204 case dimensions.

No kidding...hehehehehe
I like, be curious what you get for speeds. I don't think I'd be skeered to try some X-Terminator either.
