I owe you guys a little update. Been asking questions about a 338Fed for a while now. I even posted a couple teasers earlier. grin

Not to long ago I tried some Varget and played around with a few loads and bullets getting used to the rifle. Found a ok load, but wanted to try more. So today I tried some Benchmark and found a load pretty quickly. I might juice it up or I might not, time will tell....
Built for close range timber work, but stout so recoil isn't to bad. wink
338Fed
M700 blueprinted
Brux #5 fluted and chopped @22 "
McM Gamescout
Old school Rem trigger ,tuned
Holland lug
Fluted bolt
Talleys
3.5-10x40 CDS for now. Thinking 2-7 or 2.5-8 down the road.
8# 7oz as is, minus the bipod

Nice rifle, but it seems like a really bizarre build for close range...

Bizarre , yep that's me . laugh

Will add,,,not going to be an all day walk rifle, I've got others for that. wink Mostly to and from a stand waiting on baited bears and a cedar swamp deer or 2.
Scope is gonna get chaged out for less power later on....

I like that rifle a lot! You could get those 210s up to 2550-2600 easily with TAC, 2000MR or Leverevolution. The 210 TTSX takes up a lot of powder space though. I could not get the 210 TTSXs to shoot well, the Partition was much easier for me.

Ahhh.... that makes more sense. I would try some 185 ttsx for more velocity.

prm, Thanks.

I've got data on a 24" barrel in the 2500s on a compressed load of Benchmark. I got a little room yet in the case.

PG, I've considerd those aswell....Thanks

I may try some NAB's in the 200 range, even though I like pizz'n with Barnes just cause guys say they don't shoot ...grin

If you really want a load that shoots, try the 160 TTSXs and AA2230. Amazing combo, crazy accurate and they scoot right along at ~3020.

Damnnn...

I'd like to stay in the 185 to 210 ,I think.

One problem I have now is,powder selection. Can't just run to the store and get what I want. Ahh... the good old days....
