"I like the idea of a big bore match. Calibers that start with .4 or .5, iron sights only, offhand, one cold bore shot just like the PD Shoot." I was trying to decide between my 45 70 and 444 when I noticed the "iron sights" requirement. I had to take the Williams receiver sight off the old Marlin when I got a floater in my shooting eye a few years back. Looking thru an aperture, I get one of them diagonal lines like they put on signs when they don't want you doing something. So I'll just observe and criticize . Now if I can think of an excuse for the PD shoot.......... . BTW.. Don't forget your barrel that's here.

IF I go I'll bring my .22-6mm and a .375 H&H just to be a "small bore" fella for once. Judy told us that you have always been a "small-bore" fella. Who you tryin' to kid? Sorry, Bud, you left yourself WIDE open for that one. Ed

What a great crowd of A+, top shelf gentlemen.
I will truly look forward to pics of this soiree! I see that Ken has already made the invite, but I'll echo it. You will have a blast. Ed

Most folks turn the air blue right after their shot, so one more comment won't matter. As to the PD shoot, everyone touches off their best shot, makes lots of excuses for shooting poorly, THEN they go downrange and check targets. You know, just like every other trip to the range. I won't forget the barrel. Ed

 I like the idea of a big bore match. I can be a big bore without a rifle for a prop, and I expect a few equally talented peers to show-up. Is that the kind of match that you're talking about? Oughta be easy enough to arrange, especially with the customary liquid inspiration.

Is the PD shoot offhand as well? I don't shoot PD's that way, as you know. A correct PD rifle is a poor choice for offhand shooting.[actually, there are no GOOD choices for me}
I shoot my No 1 in 270 WBY better offhand than any of my PD rifles. Might be the set trigger. If we stop out West long enough for me to shoot[at] a PD with it, can I count it as my PD rifle in the match? [you'll loan me the nickel, I hope]
Finally, is a Texas CHL valid in the Land of Enchantment?
I got married at least once [that I remember] in New Mexico, and I've hunted there a few times for MD.

No sir. The PD shoot is done from a bench. And some of us shot borrowed rifles and still did quite well. I believe with a little time with Blues' .223, Jon toeshoes would have to look over his shoulder. miles
Look out for number 1, don't step in number 2.

No sir. The PD shoot is done from a bench. Well.............. I'll bet the bench ain't made right, then. Or somebody will mess with my scope. Or Ed will goose me just as I squeeze my shot off. No.... I got it........ I'll probably bring the wrong PD rifle for the altitude. Y'all practice shooting........... I'll practice excuses.

Ol' buddy Clyde never missed until the day when he couldn't hit a standing antelope at seventy-five yards.
Couldn't figger-out why, so I hadda gin-up an excuse for 'im

Clyde 'lowed as how that was as good as any and better'n most.

Unless something's changed recently, and without my knowledge, TX CHL are valid in NM.
