Anybody got pics of an Interarms Mini Mauser wearing a Carbelite B&C stock?
Thanks,
David

I don't have a mini mauser but have one on a Turk 98. It is a decent stock not the best overall fit but good for what it is at the price they are offered at.

It's about the only option for a Mini-Mauser, so I guess that's what it's going to be. Main question comes down to barrel length with the stock. No more than 22", but probably keep it at 20".

Check out the Basner stock for the MiniM.
I've had the B&C and compared to the Basners I now have, it was rubbish.
Boyds also do two styles for the little Mausers.
If I could get this forum to work on my PC, I'd post some photos.

A few years ago, I bought an Interarms Mini Mauser intending to rebarrel it to 6.8 SPC and restock it with a B&C. I like the ergs of the B&C stock better than the factory stock, but I never got around to putting those parts together, moved on in different directions and different interests, so I sold the parts.
In general, I like Boyds stocks, but neither of the styles that they offer for the Mini Mauser move me. I am decidedly NOT a Bansnar/HTS stock fan, so that would only be a choice of absolutely LAST RESORT.

I've never handled a Basner so I'm not familiar.
And I don't want another wood stock or I'd just use the one I have. So I'm stuck with Basner and B&C. My understanding is Basner requires a fair bit of finish work as well, so that's an additional expense in itself.
If only McMillan would make a stock for these things!

David,
IIRC you can pay Basner to finish the stock for you. It brings the price up to a McMillan though.
Another mob who do a MiniM stock is MPI, but their prices are higher again.
If you send me your email, I can send you photos of my MiniMs in various stocks. The only one I have not tried is the MPI.

Adam, Thanks a bunch. I looked at the Bansner earlier, and the MPI. Bansner offers completed install/bed/finish/pad/swivel deal for around $800. Might be best option outside the B&C. Looks to be a bit lighter as well. Email is x2mosg yahoo.com. Would appreciate any pics you have. Thanks, David Walker

I did a build with the old Remington version in .223. Used the B&C stock, dropped about a pound off vs the laminate stock that came with. Balance is farther back than I prefer, but my permutation has a 20" barrel. Shoots lights out anyway, reminds me of a .22lr but is light-big game capable with TSXs. My thinking--if you're gonna spend $800 on a Bansner, just buy a Montana instead... I'll try and take/post some pics later today.

Piney, Thanks for the information. I'm sorta leaning toward your take on it. Money-wise anyway. I'm probably going to get Fosnaugh to put this thing together, so I figure around $500 total in stock plus bedding/install. And it's all done under one roof.
If Adam ok's it I'll post pics of his rifles later for others to have for reference.
Thanks for the help guys!
David

I know you were asking about B&C, but here is a High Tech Specialties(Bansner's $290 unfinished) stock on a Mini custom in .250 Savage that was built by Kevin Weaver. I bought this rifle for my daughter and it is very trim stock and lightweight LOP is a little short at 12".

That's a very nice rifle taylor! That stock may get the nod just due to its trim forend. Nice bottom metal too.
What are the specs on the barrel? Got the weight handy?
Thanks,
David

20" Pac-Nor #1, 1:10 twist 3 groove. I don't have any weight but I can get it this weekend when I get back to COS.

That's about the contour I had in mind. Close to factory contour on my Mini-Mauser, just slightly heavier.
I had intended to do up a fast-twist .223, but am considering a 6x45, 6x47 or 6mm-204. Any of ya'll got experience with any of these 6's? It's a .223 now, so 6x45 would probably be easiest by far.
Thanks,
David

I run the 6X47 and the next one will probably be a 6-204. Just going with the 6-204 so I have more brass availability. In a little case a little extra powder always helps IMO. I used a lazy twist 1:12 in my 6X47, but still get amazing accuracy with 70 grain NBT bullets at 3066 fps from a 20" barrel. I've taken several prairie dogs, coyotes, and one pronghorn buck with that cartridge. It is pretty easy to load for, I'd probably stick with a .223 though if I could hunt with it in Colorado.

I've got an AR in .223 and a semi-custom 700 in 22-250. So I'm considering a 6mm of some sort. Then again, .223 is really easy to load for. Simple is good. LOL

Another question....Have any of ya'll changed the bolt handle on your Mini-Mausers? I'm thinking a Talley similar to the one on my M700 22-250. Like this: What do ya'll think? David

David, McMillan makes and inlets stocks for the little Mini-Mauser rifles. We can put them into our regular Mk X Mauser stock or in the reduced size Sako AII Hunter or Sako AII Classic stock.
