Been a year in the making. But have had fun in the process. My attempt at a faux LH Pre-64 M70 in .300H&H. Just got it back from my gunsmith. LH Blue Classic M70, rebarreled to .300H&H with #4 Lilja tube at 26", 1:10 twist. McWoody Pre-64 Monte Carlo pattern. I had my gunsmith install Pre-64 front and rear sight set from a pre-64 take off barrel. All metal work covered with graphite ceracoat. 7lbs, 10oz as pictured. Need to scope it up and start load development.

Looks good!
I'd like to shoulder a gun with that stock. How do you like the design?

The stock feels good to me. I have short fingers and wide palms. The grip is very "open" therefore comfortable for me. Seems to balance right around the front action screw which makes for comfortable one handed carry. Mounted a Leupold 4x12x40 Firedot on it this afternoon. 8lbs, 14oz scoped. Load work up next.

Looks good. ould you shoot a couple of shots of the action work done please. I've seen some before, but would like to see what your smith did. Whenever you have time would be great. Nice rife and a great choice in the 300 imo.

Richard,
My camera skills are not so great. But, I will try. Not sure there is a lot that is obvious...

Fantastic rifle there W!
You're getting quite the stable of fine lefties.
How'd the McWoody arrive? Was it like the Savage one?
More pics!!

Hi Warren, I have always wanted a true model 70 in left hand. IMO nothing to see would be the ideal job. I think you've made really good choices, I really like your gun.

Richard, I took the filler block out of the magazine. Just drilled out the spot welds from the back. He did the barrel work. Rear sight was just a dove tail cut with a mill and touch it up with three sided file. The front sight was a little trickier. The p64 featherweight front sight ramps were soldered in place. Once he got everything set up for the front ramp, he made a small jig/fixture to hold it in place until the solder set up. nsaqam, the McWoody arrived, no issues. I may work to buff it out a little, maybe... Only comment is that this McWoody is significantly darker than the one on the Savage. Not so much contrast versus the graphite cerakote. But as they say, "every McWoody is different". And everything else is spot on, so no complaints. More pics when I get time. The picture I am looking forward to is the "results" picture with the rifle propped up against an elk in Colorado this fall.
