I am considering getting a decent range finder for sitting on a beanfield. Max range would be 600 yards. I'm not lookin to break the bank. What would be your choice for a quality rangefinder that would work out to this range??

What would be your choice for a quality rangefinder that would work out to this range?? There's a big difference in rated ranging ability of all rangefinders as their distance advertised is usually to a reflective target. We have the Leica CRF-1000 on sale for $429.99 which would handle game to at least 600 yards

I agree on the CRF-1000; I upgraded to it from a Bushnell 1000, it would not range a deer past 400. The Scouts a good value, but BIG difference with the Leica. more than I expected.

I have a Bushnell that I bought a long time ago (at least 20 years), can't remember the price and it still works perfectly today.

I renew my different colored ribbons each year on specific beanfields (3), at 3,4,and 500yds max.
Spent rangefinder money on ammo------no chit!

Works great and is a good idea if you hunt the same feilds only. But i'm headed to Col. elk hunting this fall and don't expect to see many ribbons, so i'd kinda like everyones opinion also. It seems like people also like the new Leupolds, what do you guys think?

I had a crf1200 and RX1000i side by side on a gloomy morning about a year and a half ago, staring at a 180 class muley buck. The Leica wouldn't range at all, and the Leupold got me super fast and super accurate readings several times. Tried the Leica again and again, same thing. That was a replacement for a crf1200 that was a POS, so Leica gave me a POS in place of a POS. I'd take a Zeiss PRF, Leupy RX1000i, or Swaro RF any day over anything Leica makes.
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

Hopefully you got a good one killin'. I'll go so far to say though, that if Leica doesn't change a few things they may not even be in the sport optics market in 5 years.

Do a search for Newcon-Optik LRM1200 they are out of Canada. They run about $250 and are a heck of a unit for that money. The beam divergence is cast horizontal, the lower operating temp will come in handy during cold hunts, & they use a standard 9 volt battery. Unlike most Laser Range Finders using specialty batteries. Just a caution when looking at LRF's if you want to range out to 600 yards you will need a 1,200 yard LRF. At least 2X the distance you want to range animal out too. This will also allow you to burn through the rain or snow but will shorten the distance again by 2X. That's the reason why I bought and use the LRM 2200SI version, but it will break your bank @ $750 or so.
