Anyone got any thoughts about Sig SHR970's. My son bought one at a gun show this weekend. It looks brand new and has a very smooth bolt.

I had a SIG 970 in .270 that I traded to my dad. It has become his primary deer rifle.

It is one of if not the most accurate straight factory rifle I've ever owned. With the Federal Premium 130 grain Sierra BTSP factory load, sub 1/2 inch groups (Remember this is a sporter weight take-down rifle.) are the norm. Handloads will often go near 1/4 inch if the nut behind the Butt does their part.

This rifle is also not finicky about bullet weights. It likes them all and will generally print 130's and 150's to the same POI.

I wish they still imported the 970. I'd like to have one in every caliber <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Congrats to your son on a great purchase.
