Hi everyone. First post.
I have a question about the rear action screw hole on a bansner with a howa/vanguard inlet. I need to open up the hole before bedding, but the material between the action screw hole and the trigger group inlet is pretty thin, maybe 1/8". There is a large gap behind the trigger group that could be filled if needed. Has anyone seen this before? If I drill it out it will be very thin in that area...thoughts?

that is a mighty small surface for your tang to ride on. Why do you have to drill the hole out though? and if you wanted to and have the clearance it surely wouldnt hurt to dam it up and put some acraglass or marine tex or jb weld or something in there to make a little more surface for the tang but it might not be neccessary.

Thanks for the reply- I was initially going to pillar bed, but now am having second thoughts. I just wanted to see if anyone had bedded one of these and if they had run into this issue. I will call bansner today as well. Barring pillar bedding I would still need to open them up a bit as they are tight and might stress under recoil. Any more thoughts anyone?

Take a look at the Echol's Rifles blog site. There is an image of a pillar placed in a wood stocked rifle that is similar to your situation. It may provide you with an option.

hey thanks, yes that is what I think im in for if I go the pillar route. probably better than not doing it...

I just wonder about the pillar breaking out, but I think I can add some devcon to the exposed part, fill it in around it.
Edited to add- Other than that issue and some minor dremel time, I love the stock, ergos are just what I like and the weight cant be beat. Im going to end up with a "light" Howa for once.
