I have about 3/4 of a pound for this, and I can not remember what for. I THINK I loaded it with 100 grain pills in my 257 wby with semi decent results.

In doing some reasearch, I have also found (I believe) mention of where this would/could be a good powder in a 300 wsm? Has anyone used said powder in a 300 wsm with say, 168 TTSX? How does it hold up velocity/accuracy wise?

I started using it in my 300 WSM.I'm getting excellent groups and velocities with 64.5gr of 760.Winchester 760 and H-414 are the same powder, both are produced by Hodgdon Powder.I'm loading 64.5grs of Win.760 with a 165gr Hornady Interbond,COL is 2.850,velocity is 3125fps,1" groups @ 200yds.I'd give it a try in your rifle.

Hi Casey,

It is very similar in burn rate to the 4350s.

I found it to be quite temperature sensitive. It isn't a clean burning powder either. You only have 3/4 pound? I'd say don't bother using it unless you make the load this week in the afternoons. Ha ha (for the readers not aware, the Tucson area is going to be 106-107 all week)

Here is an old thread on win 760.

I say pour it all on the ground and burn it up some evening, it makes a great show.

I have been using W760 for about 25 yrs. in the 22-250. Good velocity, and have shot in temps. from 50 deg. to 107 deg. and have noticed no sensetivety. That does not mean it isn't so.

I was using it in a Sako 300WSM with 180gr Accubonds. By far, the best grouping combo I stumbled across with this particular rifle.

760 is a staple on my loading bench. It may get a bad rap from some but I have not found those faults yet.

Only one way to find out Casey, use it and come to your own conclusion.

btw, outside of RL17 or Superformance for speed. I found it works better than any other powder for the 300 WSM/168 bullets for speed and accuracy. H4350 works great for accuracy but won't get you the speed that 760 will.

760 can't be loaded to the nuts at 50 deg. Then shot without issues at 100deg, I agree.
Beyond that, it really isn't "sensitive", I swear all the time and don't have any problems with it.

Me too, and in a large range of cartridges over the last 40 years and never heard of temperature sensitivity until I moved to the US. Never noticed any change or variation in the field in Oz, but the people who state variation seem to be leaning more to the colder climates I think. Say from 50 degree's on down to sub zero perhaps.

I chronographed loads made in Oz in the Rockies at around 7,000 ft with temps in the low 20's and they shot to identical velocities and sighting in all rifles I imported using 760 loads.

I used it very heavily in .22/250, .243, .25/06, 7mm Mauser, .30/06 and .375 H&H with blissful ignorance. It was a good time.

I use it in my .300WSM with 150 NP's may try it with a TTSX soon but I have several hundred of the NP's and they have worked great on deer, bear and elk thus far.
