I remain partial to scoring Used Rifles that "don't shoot" and have long been hip on the notion of gunnin' for pinks.(grin)

Can count on the fingers of one hand how many of my rifles were bought new. And yep, some of the used ones came from others that "gave up on 'em".

'Tis how I got my first M700 in 25-06, 'bout 35 years ago.

Thing was spotless, but the previous owner said it wouldn't shoot. Laid 'em in there with my loads, still does all these years later. First "one ragged hole" group I ever fired with a center fire back then, was with that one and my 87gr Sierra loads.

All I did to it, was float the barrel, adjust the trigger and find a load it liked back then. Still shoots well, but now with 100gr Btips.

Last "non-shooter" I fetched back to life, was another M700 in 223 a few years ago. One of the older ADL synthetics with the stouter 24" barrel. Bargain at $390 or so, in mint condition.

Came with an adjustable Timney and the Leupie one piece mount ya get the willies from. Had no reason to change it out yet. If it goes to hell someday, will likely put a 1 to 9 tube on it and let 'er rip with some heavier goods.

Buddy has an older Savage 10FP (think they were either 1 to 9 or 10 twist?). His shoots up to 75gr bullets pretty damn well.

Was always a blue steel and walnut feller, but now have widened my horizons a bit.

Schtick in a Mexican Standoff with an 'armed intruder' in his bath room.. having no idea he is looking in the mirror..... again...

Brink,

do you really think if he would have qualified to graduate High School, it really would have mattered?

If yes, then you win the eternal optimist award for the day...

Actually, Schtick is sort of like Jethro Bodine... he graduated the 3rd grade and it only took him 7 years....

but he did participate in a Spelling Bee once... sadly got eliminated when he couldn't spell BEE, much less SPELLING

YAWN! Once again you bring nothing. Once again, lying about what exactly and prove it. The only thing funny here is your midget, high school drop out, drunkard, wanna be Alaskan azz trying to prove that you're something special. All you are is pathetic. Thanks for playin'. Here's a novel idea. Why don't you share some of your vast wisdom without being a flaming prick and maybe folks might actually take a second or two and listen to you. Until then GFY and rattle another bottle dry.

I'm sure if he did make it, it was just by the skin of his teeth and due to C+ in basket weaving. He's getting more pathetic and boring by the second and is repeating himself like he has a bad case of Alzheimer's. Funny thing, I was in town today at the hardware store and there was a Radio Flyer wagon with the name Larry on it. He was no where to be found though. I think he must have fell off it again.....

Geedub,
No problems here. I am also a Baptist! I plan to leave politics at home when I come down. Same with religion. I am coming down to check out the landscape and maybe shoot a critter or three.
I don't drink but hopefully no one will hold that against me. Just wondering if my gut will be able to take all the Spices you boys like down there. You guys ever hear of salt and pepper?

Love me some fried potatoes with onion and a few pieces of habanero.

Have to try the soup idea. If we're cooking on the grill (which is just about every night during summer) there is some kind of pepper roasting.

I'm all for Jalapeno's but have never ventured into habanero territory. I always grow about 8-10 jalapeno plants and dry, freeze and can some. Love em. Habanero's are a different kind of hot, the kind that you use gloves to pick them I hear. No thanks.
