Geography and barrel length will have the biggest impact on price, box/papers/goodies will impact as well.
500 before the balloon went up was a rockin' price.
I'd say anywhere from 600-700, perhaps a whisker more if your area likes them.

600 to 700 will get you a very nice 686
I assume that high of a rating it has factory stocks
I would say closer to 550.00
In my area
I also see lots more 686s

Selling price in my area would be $500 for the matt blued, if high gloss blued with S&W wood stocks, $600 up. Asking prices would usually be $50-100 higher at the local shows.

I found a mint 4" for $550.
I thought that was outrageous. I sold my last 686 4" for $250.00.

I sold mine which was like NIB, no lock, with all papers, box and tools for 650 last year. It had 6" bbl. Believe I gave 550 for it the year before.
