As always I feel compelled to remind you guys that IF any of you wish to hunt in SD in the future, please go to the state website and purchase your preference point now for the 2013 year. anyone wishing to hunt this year, now is the time to put in for tags. Tom, PM me for specifics if you're putting in this year. anyone else interested in hunting west river, feel free to let me know. also where I go is unlimited for archery, so feel free to inquire. Dave, this is the third year I'll be inviting you, this time on an open forum. I have already told your wife previously, that you and Nate need to come out and hunt. I figured I'd do it in front of everyone this time Les is coming this year if it helps!

Umm, if'n I forgot exactly who I said happy birthday too, can I just get away with saying Happy Birthday! to everyone who has had a birthday in the last 2 weeks and be covered? Pretty sure I missed Dave and Nate, so a special Happy Birthday to them. I have been traveling so much, I cant keep up here as much as I would like!
I hope everyone is able to get out and enjoy some fishing this summer. Seems like the fish are biting pretty good everywhere.

Is that unlimited archery for non-residents too? And for mule deer as well as whitetail?

yes for nonresidents and residents both, but for archery only. rifle is limited draw. and you need at least 1 PP to have a chance in the draw, there are only 2 nonresident tags.
the regular tag is for any deer, so whitetail, mule deer it doesn't matter. I did see some nice mulie bucks the other morning, out past their ears a ways and not growing up yet, so they should be really nice.

that is for the 27L unit only, for the main units there are LOTS of tags available. double doe tags are only 80 bucks if antlers don't matter

archery is the last saturday in september til january 15th or so. after january 1 it's does only. there is a TON of public land, I think you can request a public lands map from the SDGFP it breaks it down by region. plus I might know of a few spots that are good

I have no issues popping a doe, but if I'm going to drive 12 hours....I want some horns. Sure we all want nice racks, so I'd like to come then, but taking a doe home won't bother me a bit!

I have a camper that will sleep 6 if guys want to put up a pile of meat muzzle loader season is the time to do it. 6 weeks long and you can buy a lot of tags if you wish
