Thanks Randy. ABs at a solid 2900. I like it.

If you could get some the new Nosler Long Range Accubonds would be a killer combo in the 280Ackley.

I get a very consistant 3030 fps with the 160 gr Accubond using 56 gr RL17 Nosler 280 Rem fire formed brass and Fed215M primers.

That is with a 26" barrel and .030" off the lands

When I had my 24" 280AI, the fastest powder was good old IMR7828. Good for 2950 fps.

I didn't have R17 to try at that time.

I can reach 3000fps in a 24"bbl wth 160ABs and RL-22.No pressure signs, but thats normal from an AI.Very accurate load that I would not hesitate to use on elk. Monashee

Otter, I have two .280AI's both have 24" Kreiger barrels and my favorite powder in both is IMR 7828. I get about 2950fps with 60grs of it. I see no signs of high pressure, case life is good. Accuracy is outstanding. For I'm hunting I use Nosler Partitions, otherwise I use Sierras which shoot to the same POI out to 300yds.

My 280AI has a 1:8.5 twist 23" rock #2 barrel.

55.5 grains IMR 4350 and 162 Amax with fed215 = 2875 fps

55.5 grains IMR 4350 and 162 Amax with WLR primer = 2840 fps

60.5 grains RL22 and 162 Amax with WLR primer = 2940 fps

The top load is most accurate. I'm going to try RL17 next.

Update on RL-17 in my 23" 280AI.

Looks to be good.

55.0 grains RL17 and 162 Amax with WLR = 2915 fps

55.5 grains RL17 and 162 Amax with WLR = 2955 fps

Gonna try and load for accuracy now and possibly work up some more. Would like to try Vn165 as well.

Can't complain about those numbers. Looking good buddy. Post up a target or two when you get a chance.
